Breast Reconstruction Surgery
Dr. Lerman specializes in reconstructive breast surgery after a mastectomy. He uses the latest surgical techniques to restore your confidence and sense of femininity.
“Dr. Lerman is a miracle worker! Dr. Lerman performed my DIEP flap nipple sparing—reconstruction on the very same day that I had mastectomies (something that 3 other surgeons in NJ told me was impossible) …. I left with breasts that looked amazing : no expanding, no heartache. His expertise and skill are unmatched! He is the most kind and caring surgeon I have ever met. I am so grateful for having had him as my surgeon” — Joan, 5-Star Review
DIEP Breast Reconstruction
Deep inferior epigastric perforator (DIEP) flap is an autologous reconstruction procedure, meaning Dr. Lerman uses your own tissue to reconstruct the breasts. Autologous tissue reconstruction is often preferred by patients because of the natural-looking and feeling results. During the DIEP flap method, Dr. Lerman will transfer excess skin and fat from your abdomen to reconstruct your bustline.
Nipple Reconstruction
Dr. Lerman offers nipple reconstruction as a finishing touch to your breast procedure. While nipple reconstruction isn’t a required step during breast reconstruction, it is often the last step that makes women feel wholly confident in their breasts’ appearance again.
Corrective Breast Reconstruction
Both breasts reconstructed with implants or autologous tissue may change over time. Just like natural tissue, breasts that have undergone autologous reconstruction can start to sag or droop while breasts reconstructed with implants can rupture, ripple, or shift in a way that is uncomfortable and unappealing. Dr. Lerman offers corrective breast reconstruction to fix these issues and restore a beautiful, natural-looking bustline.
Paying for Breast Reconstruction The Women’s Health and Cancer Rights Act of 1998
According to The Women’s Health and Cancer Rights Act of 1998 (WHCRA), any insurance companies that provide coverage for mastectomies must also provide coverage for reconstructive breast surgery following the procedure.
